Getting started

Ghostdex works with any browser wallet that can add a custom network, and with the wallet built into the site. Your wallet stays the owner of everything: it signs once to open your ghosts and never hands its key to Ghostdex.

Connecting

Ghostdex discovers wallets through the browser standard that lets each installed wallet announce itself (EIP-6963), so you see Rabby, MetaMask or any other by name. Nothing talks to a wallet before you press Connect. The last wallet you used is remembered in this browser so the page can reconnect quietly; disconnecting clears it.

No wallet extension, or on a phone? Create a Ghostdex wallet instead: a standard recovery phrase, encrypted in this browser with your passcode. See Mobile and the Ghostdex wallet.

Your main wallet and your ghosts

The wallet you connect is your main wallet. It owns your ghosts: one signature of a fixed message opens them in this tab, with no transaction and no gas. The menu at the top of the app shows who the app is acting as. When it names a ghost, every order is signed by that ghost and your main wallet stays out of it. See Ghosts.

The network

When an order needs Robinhood Chain, Ghostdex asks your wallet to switch. If the wallet does not know the network, it is added with these values:

Network
Network name Robinhood Chain
Chain id 4663
Currency ETH (18 decimals)
RPC https://rpc.mainnet.chain.robinhood.com
Explorer https://robinhoodchain.blockscout.com

For a bridge, the order starts on the chain you send from, so the wallet switches to that chain first: Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum or BNB Chain.

Gas

Every transaction on the chain pays gas in ETH, and a ghost is no exception: it needs a little ETH of its own before it can sign anything. Fees are small. A single swap measured about 479,000 gas, about three cents at the time. Keep some ETH in every address you trade from, or its transactions cannot be sent.

What gets signed

  • One message, once per tab: the signature that opens your ghosts. It sends nothing and costs nothing, but it is the seed of every ghost key, so sign it only on Ghostdex. The message says so in its own text.
  • Approvals: permission for a contract to move a token, given once per token and per address. Swaps approve LI.FI's contract; baskets approve Permit2 and then the Universal Router through it.
  • Orders: the swap, basket, deposit, loan or launch itself. Your wallet, or the confirmation sheet of a ghost, shows the contract it calls, and the review shows the same address.
  • Nothing else: there is no account and no login signature. Ghostdex never asks for your recovery phrase, except inside the Ghostdex wallet when you choose to import one.

Stock tokens can block individual addresses. If an address is on an issuer's block list, transfers of that stock to or from it revert, whatever the interface.
